Poznań – Wilczak and Serbska: two bores, two days, no excavation

Poznań – Wilczak and Serbska. Two bores, two days, no excavation — how was it done?
MIDO working within the city's flow.

Poznań is a city with a fast pace of life.

A city of people on the move, frequent transfers, busy streets and rapidly developing investments…

Especially the Wilczak and Serbska area — in the north of Poznań, where new housing estates, shops, service zones and community spaces have appeared in recent years.

This is an area where traffic cannot simply be stopped…

Every metre of roadway matters.

Open-cut works here would have caused paralysis…

For that reason the MIDO technology was the appropriate solution.

Two bores — two days. The city did not notice the work.

The MIDO team was tasked with installing two sanitary sewer connections for a new Lidl store and an adjacent gym under construction.

We completed:

  • 22 metres of bore for PP pipe Ø180,

  • over 17 metres of bore for PP pipe Ø225,

  • without any open trenches,

  • without surface intervention,

  • without closing streets to traffic.

  • Each bore was completed in one day.

  • Total — two days of work and finished.

With conventional methods this would have required:

asphalt removal, several days of open excavation, traffic diversions, noise and traffic disruption.

With MIDO technology — none of the above.

Poznań — a city with history beneath the surface

The Wilczak–Serbska area contains historical traces below ground.

Old utility lines, fragments of former buildings, decommissioned installations and networks whose documentation is often only partial.

Underground is a mosaic of water pipes, power cables, telecom networks and heating installations,

and remnants of structures from decades ago.

Such locations require maximum precision and technology capable of operating between existing installations without collision risk.

Gravity-driven boring handles these conditions well.

MIDO strengths: precision, speed and no surface disruption

The MIDO gravity boring rig works from pit to pit.

Our technology provides:

millimetre-level pipe alignment,

capability to operate in challenging urban ground conditions,

no nuisance for residents,

no downtime for the client,

clean and fast execution.

Therefore the bores at Wilczak and Serbska were completed without any impact on road traffic, although traditional methods could have caused several weeks of disruption.

Poznań is developing without slowing down — so are we

The sanitary connections to the new store and gym were installed on schedule and the surrounding infrastructure experienced no downtime.

Modern water and sewer construction —

efficient,
environmentally friendly,

fast,

unobtrusive to residents.

Project parameters:
